WEEK 11:
NUTRITION CHALLENGE:
**Visit your local Farmers’ Market and purchase your produce for the week from a local (organic if possible) farmer.**
Explanation:
If you’re unfamiliar with your local market already, look at your city’s/county’s website and see where it’s held and what day and time. Most often they are early in the morning and run to early afternoon. If you’re going for a specific item/list of things, make sure to get there early(ish). (For example, ours runs out of eggs within the first couple hours.) Markets are also usually only held on the weekend - most often on Saturday. So you’ll have plenty of time to plan what produce you’ll need for next week and schedule in a visit.
Also, I’d like for you to try and support an organic farm if possible. You will have to do some asking around to find out which farms are and which are totally not. Sometimes they openly advertise that they are certified organic, sometimes they don’t. Most farmers are super friendly. YOU are their livelihood! They want to help and educate and talk to you. Some vendors we've met are downright delightful characters!! So PLEASE don’t be afraid to talk to them.
Also, be aware that to be a certified organic farm, these guys have to jump through some pretty big and costly regulational hoops. This is part of the reason organic food is more expensive. So just as you can’t assume that every vendor at a local market is organic, you also shouldn't assume that because they aren't “certified organic” that they might not be using the same practices and protocols and just can’t afford to get certified. A big example of this is, again, eggs - many vendors do not call their eggs organic - because they legally can’t. But if you ask them, they can tell you their chickens eat organic feed, are kept free range, and have a better diet than a lot of certified organic chickens anyway!! So have a conversation!! Learn about your farmer. Enjoy your visit. We always have an awesome time on our market days. Let us know how it goes!!
FITNESS CHALLENGE:
**3 sessions of cardio this week PLUS the circuit workout x2!**
Explanation:
We’re down to the last 4 weeks here people!! (Woohoo!) By this point, daily activity and weekly workouts should be pretty normal to you. Whether you love it or not quite yet is another habit that will come with time. In preparation of our celebration bootcamp event, we want to get you used to a little circuit routine as well as have some endurance built up when it comes to your cardio.
SO! This week - THREE cardio sessions - preferably running. Nice and easy. Nothing too far or hard - 10 to 15 minutes would be great. (More if you’re feeling frisky!) Plus TWO sessions with this fun little circuit I whipped up!
Let me know if you have any questions on it. Otherwise, get your buns in gear and have fun!
