Week 9 1/2:
Okay guys. This week…we’re going to take a step back. We’ve been throwing a lot of challenges at you every week and for many of you, this is all brand new stuff. I’m feeling like we may be getting a bit overwhelmed and lost in it all and that is not the point of the challenge. Therefore, I am declaring this Week 9...and a half.
We’re not going to be putting out a brand new set of challenges this week. I want to make sure everyone’s on the same page with all the challenges we’ve thrown out there so far. We’ll just call this week: reality check, aka: poop happens. (Because this is a family-friendly forum. Most of the time.)
So your job right now - read this post...
The reality is -- life happens.
However. I still want to make sure you’re getting the most out of this experience. And that you're seeing actual results in your lifestyles and in your body by taking part in this challenge. For that to happen - I need you on board!! Participation and accountability is key for these types of things. If you were all my clients and I saw you on a regular basis in my gym (my awesome, full service, bada$$ gym btw -- if we’re gonna be talking ideal situations might as well make it good, right?), this would all be a lot easier. Face to face contact and encouragement and conversations are always better and more inspiring. I understand that. I try to make our personalities and passion for what we do come across this screen to you each week but it’s not ever going to be as strong or as easy as if we could all just isolate ourselves in Biggest Loser land or something and bang out these challenges together as a team. I get that. Totally.
But take a minute and try to remember how we all felt back in the doldrums of winter when we wanted so badly to do something great for ourselves this year. To make changes. Lasting ones! Good ones!! To make healthier, fitter, happier selves! To do the same for our families. Making the decision to do something MORE - to make your life better - is awesome!! That’s why or how you found this challenge! You were looking for something. Wanted to see and feel something better for yourself. YES!!! Hell yes.
After that decision was made, now comes the implementation of a plan - you need goals and ways to get to them. That’s where the ReVITALizer challenge itself comes in. We’re laying the groundwork for you to be the best version of yourself you can be. Some weeks are more technical - eating changes and specific fitness goals. Other weeks it’s more about getting you outside your comfort zone - breaking old habits and allowing new ones in and realizing it is NOT out of your reach do be different. Better. To have more for yourself than you thought was possible before.
And then, getting used to this lifestyle and maintaining it….that’s where the real work comes in. I need you to stay with me. Every day. Push yourself. Ask for help! Falling off the wagon? Reach out!! There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to feel ashamed if you’ve fallen behind. This is big deal stuff here people! And there’s been a lot of it! I EXPECT you to have hard days. Hard weeks! Shoot, Dave and I struggle with these things too! I haven't drank any water yet and I'm two cups of coffee in. Nor have I eaten breakfast though I've been up for 2 1/2 hours. We haven't visited a new grocery store this week and only just decided on a race. We’re trying our butts off every dang day to run our own business and make it successful for ourselves and our clients! Dave’s recently coming out of a certification that was not only very mentally taxing, but physically as well! I have been studying like a crazy gal and then was gone all weekend myself for a certification just this past weekend too! Bills needed to be paid! Basements have flooded! Kittens needed nut removal! Lol. Stuff happens and we understand and PLEASE know that we’re no where near perfect ourselves.
That said……….I also expect you to try again. I did not get to where I am by saying, “Meh - this is tougher than I thought. I can’t do it. Forget it.” I had bad days. I ate crap meals and beat myself up for it. I gained weight. I took weeks off of the gym at times. I had injuries that set me back. I just plain didn’t feel like it sometimes. …...and......I tried again. Every. Single. Time. The more you practice and implement these things into your daily life - the EASIER they become. The less you will think about HAVING to do it and the more you will just DO it and WANT to do it! We WANT you to be successful and are truly here to help you in any way we’re able. How many people can say they have two seriously awesome personal trainers and coaches at their fingertips to help them day or night?? Honestly though - use us. We’re here to help. Use the forum. All of you are really great people and everyone has been so helpful to everyone else. Use each other’s knowledge and experiences to get the most out of this challenge.
So this week: I want you to go back through our prior weeks of challenges. See where you’re struggling. Re-assess. Complete a challenge from a week you missed. Take this week to reflect on why you started in the first place. Whatever you need to do to get feeling “back on track” - do it. Because I dig you guys and want you pushing through with us til the end of this thing. <3 Five more weeks, party people!! We can rock this out.

The reality is -- life happens.
- School’s out. (Or is getting out.) Dave and I don’t have munchkins but I totally understand that this is a HUGE deal for those of you who do. (Or for our teacher peeps!) Your lives just all got turned upside down. Schedule changes. Activity changes. Meal changes. Anything that’s been “normal” for you for about the last 9 months is now...not. I get it. I can only imagine how much it takes to wrangle a bunch of kiddos and a whole family back into a completely new routine.
- Those without kids, maybe you’re in school yourself. It gets heavy juggling a job, classes and a life all at once. Most of us have been there (oh, have I been there...ugh). We get it!
- Everyone else...have you looked outside lately?? It’s friggin gorgeous!! Maybe your absolute last priority has been to come sit in front of a computer screen and check what you’re supposed to be doing for some weird new challenge that some crazy chick has been churning out at you for the last two months. (And if that’s true - GOOD FOR YOU! I view computers and “screen time” as an unfortunate but very necessary evil to my work and I applaud you if you’ve not been online as much as normal lately now that we’ve got summer in full swing.)
