WEEK 8:
NUTRITION CHALLENGE:
**Find a “healthy” version of your favorite “comfort food” and try it this week!
+
Tell us about it in the forum and give us the recipe if you’ve got it!**
Explanation:
There is NO reason why eating healthy has to be a chore, boring, un-fun, un-tasty, or make you feel like you’re deprived. There’s this VAST CRAZY invention out there called...the Internet. And it’s FILLED with health-nut chefs who have already done all the work for us! In my experience, if you do a little digging, you can find a HEALTHY version of almost ANY food out there.
Notes:
FITNESS CHALLENGE:
**Run (or walk) 10 MILES this week!**
Explanation:
Don’t freak out! This is not all at once. In fact, I do NOT want anyone doing more than 2 miles per day if you are not currently on a running program. Cumulatively, for the whole week, I want you to get 10 miles in. This can be running, walking or a combination of the two. Take your dog. Take your kids. Take your neighbor, hubby, wifey, co-workers. This is about knowing you are capable of doing it - because EVERY one of you is!! - and just doing it. One foot in front of the other aaaaand GO!
If you are currently on a running program, I want you to use this week as your “no matter what” - get your miles in. Meaning, I know you guys (my runners, my marathoners, etc.) set specific goals for yourself. Especially when training for races and distances. And I also know that sometimes it’s easy to say...I don’t feel like it today. Well, THIS week - you get to your goal. No matter what. No excuses (unless injury is an excuse - then safety first!). And let us know how you did! I want progress reports!

Notes:
- Now, this is a challenge, but it’s not THAT kind of challenge (I'm looking at you, Lee). Meaning, I don’t want you guys to see if you can find a recipe that calls itself “Healthy Deep Fried Twinkies”. Just…..no. But, you should have no problem, with a little research, finding “Healthy Meatloaf”, “Healthy Taco Night”, “Healthy Pancakes”, “Healthy Pizza”... This challenge is NOT about desserts this week though. (There may be one in the future...just sayin’. But not this week.) Think COMFORT FOOD. Think meals. Think that one meal you could eat everyday the rest of your life.
And now let's make it healthy so that "the rest of your life" is a long long time.
- This is NOT a “low-fat” challenge. I’ve seen many recipes for things like “Skinny Artichoke Dip”, for example, where they essentially just substitute all the regular cheeses with low fat chemical versions and call it….."healthy"? No. The dish now contains less fat and is full of chemicals. It's by no means "healthy". So we’re looking for unprocessed foods, whole foods, real foods - as local and as organic as you can.
- It would be awesome if all recipes could be PRE-APPROVED! So if you’re looking at one to try, please feel free to post it here - or on my Trainer page on FB - and I’ll give you the green light...or tell ya to go fish.
