This week's challenge: accomplished.
New 1RM on my deadlift last night: 205
And I found both ramps and sunchokes as my new veggies!

You guys rocked it out last night!! Great work. A couple little adjustments and some mobility work and you'll be well on your way to the 3 hundo club! How were those veggies?? Did you try them yet? How'd you prepare them?

So I was able to get a new 1rep max in this week. It helps that it was a new lift so no matter what I pulled it was going to be a new max. I learned squat cleans and after a few extremely frustrating fails I was finally able to pull 185. There was a lot going on this week. Celebrated my 10 year anniversary. I have not been to the stroke to look for a new fruit or veggie. I might have to carry that over to next week. Hope everyone is out enjoying to fabulous weather. I got out for a 25 mile bike ride today. I have the sunburned arms to prove it. Happy Memorial Day everyone.

You did great Lee!! It's a very frustrating move. Just be glad we're not working on snatches - right Lauren? To be honest, we haven't gotten to the store to pick out a new veggie yet either. Maybe tomorrow if we're feeling frisky. If not, next week it is for us as well! :/

Ugh, having a minor (ok major) freak out because my weight is still going up after that brief stint of losing a few pounds. I am tracking my food in myfitnesspal as of today, and adding more cardio back in. UGH!!!!

What did you think of your veggie excursion, Lauren (and everyone!)?
I found that the daikons we tried were very much like radishes - and I'm not a huge radish fan; the kohlarabi was very bland but would probably be nice in a stir fry; and the rainbow chard was a lot like spinach. So of the three - I would definitely eat the chard again. But probably prepared a different way - in the salad was great, roasted was kinda - underwhelming.
Were yours good experiences or...meh?

Sorry about your freak out. I'm currently going through a similar deal. I'm trying to learn to not be so hard on myself. But when you set a goal, and have trouble reaching it - girl brain starts to f**k w/you. Yes - definitely add some cardio back in. I think that would help me too. (Let me know if you ever want a cardio buddy!) And I'd say Fitness Pal is your friend for the next two weeks until you get a handle on it again. We can all always use a little self check sometimes. That's what I like those apps for.

I was really happy with the ramps - they are like garlicky scallions, and very versatile. The morels are a little overrated, IMO. $20 for a handful, and they are no better than any other mushroom. They are very earthy and dark.
Danged girl brain!! I need to get some cardio in tonight. I was thinking a run or bike, but it looks like the weather isn't going to play nice. Ideas?

I think I have tried every available fruit and vegetable aroubd here. I think it is also hard to do my max on my own without scheduling an open gym at crossfit. And I go back home then back here again this week for things I have to do.

What if you made yourself a little body weight circuit Lauren? AMRAP for 30 min? Could be fun! And yeah - weather seems a bit fickle today. :/

Theres gotta be something new you can try Ellen. Otherwise - just try something new when you come home! As far as your 1rm - same thing. Just schedule one and get it in next time you can.

Hmm, I definitely replied to this, I wonder where it went.
Anyway, I loved the ramps! They are like garlicky scallions with softer greens, and they pan fry nicely. The morels were very earthy and dark. Not sure they are worth the $20, but it was interesting to try such a legendary food. I haven't made the sunchokes yet.
Maybe look up some German Kohlrabi recipes. The Germans love them, and the ones I've had there have been lovely. I also like Chard in salads.
Cardio! Let's do it! Bike, run, swim, whatever, just something interesting.
